The Way We Go

I posted this comment on another site in 2016. Call it a red flag warning, if you will. But there were apparently not enough red flags flying.  And look where we are today: dealing with the disaster of Brexit in the UK and the fall-out from 4 years of Trump in the US… and these consequences will go on for years, most likely…

Are you ready to start using analytical Reason instead of emotion to vote for policies and politicians yet???

Are you ready to stop  buying the lies that feed your fears and stop allowing yourselves to be rage-driven into voting for Bad Ideas and worse political figures?

“I’m pretty much done with political discussion. People will vote for who they will vote for, sure enough.

And everyone will experience or have to endure the consequences of the winning votes, from this generation to the next. The world will share in those consequences whether good or ill as will every other species on this planet…

The world each person has envisioned- built of their fears or hopes- is based on their mindset, and those mindsets will determine their vote- and some visions will be positive and some will be unexpectedly horrible… some will heal, others will harm.

Some will rise people up, some will tear people down.

Some will embrace hate and fear, others will embrace diversity and unity in diversity.

Some will increase the volume of words of hate, others will increase the volume of words of kindness and love.

Some will scream to oppress everyone under the banner of a chant or a cross, others will call to celebrate our humanity and freedom to worship or not, as we please.

Some will call for women to be subordinated, others will recognize we are human first.

Some will see the world as an opportunity for exploitation, others will see the world and its inhabitants as interdependent.

Some will let emotions overrule their minds, others will use critical reasoning to seek the best solutions for the future.

Each person, in the end, will have to understand what their mindset is and why they voted as they did, and what their part in the creation of our Tomorrow was.

And perhaps, there will be a great dividing, but in that dividing, perhaps those who rise up will come together stronger and endure, and build together, and those who tear down will tear things down so well that they will have to learn kinder ways of being or perish…

Best of luck to the builders, the dreamers of better worlds.
