The neo-GOP in the US is a real danger to people. The latest attacks on drag queens’ and trans health care in Tennessee is not just an attack on drag queens- it is  not really about drag queens- it is about misogyny and anti-LGBT politics and anti-equal rights for women. It is about religious extremism and wilful ignorance dominating a political party that has used ignorance, deceit, fear, and scapegoating select groups of people as well as appeals to insecurity and “traditional values”as a basis for party policies. They did this because they had nothing else to offer: not good ideas, not sound policies, not a long term plan for human progress.

The issue is about the 1) discomfort men have with homoerotic feelings and experiences (Note I did not say homosexual) they may have had in their young lives, 2) negative feelings about women ( I mean, who would want to be one if you have all the power and privilege of men and who would want to “receive” aka be subordinate) and  3) the raging ignorance, bigotry and prejudice being pushed by politicians unfit for public office, pundits who seek connection to power and religious fanatics and phonies who have found promoting ignorance and fear to be a great cash-cow.

The intent is to create a wave of anti-LGBT+ political movements and eventually, crush LGBT+ people back into closets and/or give the bigots permission to attack them verbally, emotionally and yes, physically- some US politicians and religious fanatics have called for them to be put behind fences and starved to death , to be crucified and some for them to be “medicated” or “have brain surgery to “correct” them- perhaps a lobotomy .. either way, hateful and malicious.

And the whole “protect our children” is a false flag, another lie. Pedophiles are mostly heterosexual men, often married with children of their own, not gay teens and men… but no one wants to think Grandpa or Uncle George might attack family members, so these liars and deceivers use gays as scapegoats and distractions from truth..

And I suspect after the LGBT people, the next ones to be targeted will be women’s rights- the vote, how they live, what they wear, what public spheres they can participate in- especially after the anti-choice Trump SCOTUS was put in place for years to come.  And it’s growing:  “women take men’s jobs”, “women are responsible for making weak men”, “women owe men submission and sex” and so on.

All people of good will need to start speaking out, standing up for each other and working and voting to protect equality for all, equal opportunity and liberty for all citizens. Whatever else, the judgement of time is on the side of equality.
