Money

No one wants money because it buys “happiness”.

Not the poor.

Not the working class.

Not the middle class.

Not even the already rich.

The rich want money because it buys power and extra privilege- they’ve known this all along, which is why politicians pass policies to keep the money in the fewest hands- their own, more specifically, and their cronies.

Middle class people want money becasue it buys them security and a hope for a good retirement of easy living and few worries and having expendable funds for that sports car they’ve dreamed of, adding an extension of their home, or putting in a pool, or a tennis court or what have you.

What the working poor, working class people know is the most important lesson of all:

Money buys freedom.

THAT is what money means to the working class and working poor.

The freedom to buy a house you like in a place you like, with some land if you want it, even if it is only a 1000 square foot home and a ½ an acre- because land means even more freedom and self-sufficiency.

The freedom from someone else controlling your life, your decisions, your choices.

The freedom to pursue a chance at another life path.

The freedom to buy a house and make your own decisions for that house, instead of always having to go cap-in-hand to the landlords and ask permission to plant a veggie path, or have a couple chickens, or remodel the back yard.

FREEDOM is what money means to the working class- and freedom is what the upper classes don’t want them to have.. thus, the constant battle between those who feed off the labor of the working class and reap without sowing, and those who seek a more fair exchange for their labor, the chance to build a retirement savings, and a home of their own.

Money cannot buy happiness- it buys freedom.
