If We Don’t leave Now by Deborah
If We Don’t Leave Now
What will happen?
Will stars fall
Like exploding sequins
From a fabric sky?
Will seas rise up
And swallow combers
On beaches fair and stormy
All over the world?
Will we finally
Regret not heeding the voices
Of those who have claimed
“Get ready, the end of the world is nigh!”?
Will gravity itself
Fail to hold us to this earth
And the Universe claim us back
If we don’t leave now?
