VOYAGER

To out beyond the beyond, outward behind the sun,
A message is sent from earth bidding the visitors come.
A message of peace and a quest for Life
(Is there hope out beyond the stars?),
Sent out by a race that is weary of strife,
Weary of hatred and wars.

Across the great beyond, past stars behind the sun,
A clarion call from a questing race to the silence outward: Come!”
From a world of woe, of turmoil born
of minds grown barren and stark,
comes a search for others who struggled and won:
“Come from the silence, the dark.”

From out beyond the beyond, from outward behind the sun,
A message received, a message returned, for lo! The visitors come!
Not in a flurry of shining ships,
Not with an earth-shaking roar:
They come again from the silence and dark
As they always have come before.

Out of the wombs dark depths these gentle changelings come,
With memories of stars and visions of spheres in the silence behind the sun!
These are the Future-touched children of men,
Whose pathway shines hopeful and clear,
and they lead the way outward beyond the beyond,
To the stars and the visions of spheres!
