INHERITANCE

Onward, upward, outward we fly
Past Saturn and Pluto and mars,
out to Tau Ceti and Alpha Centauri…
For tonight we inherit the stars!

Ten millennium past we started the climb
Out to Antares, Mizar;
We learned of the path of Perfected Mind…
And tonight we inherit the stars!

Beyond what we were, we followed the trail,
Evolving into what we now are;
Aldebaran, Callisto, Andromeda call…
So tonight we inherit the stars!

Now in bright shining ships we sail into the sky,
Out beyond the encircling bar;
Still seeking the One who pointed the way,
who gave us these shimmering stars.

Past Delta Pavonis, Perseus, Orion,
Past nebulae, planets and stars;
Beyond the far Triffid,, past Zeta Aurigae…
tonight we inherit the stars!
